What Is The Celestial Body That Is Found When A Star Like Our Sun Sheds Its Layers And Slowly Cools Down?

A) A Black Hole

B) A Neutron Star

C) A White Dwarf

Answer Below

The correct answer is option C. When our sun starts to fuse heavier elements such as helium and Carbom, it’s going to release more energy than when fusing hydrogen into helium. When you release more outward energy, the outer less dense areas of the sun will start to expand, like a balloon. But most people think that when it gets bigger, it will become hotter, but that is not the case. This is because when the sun starts to expand and grow, the surface area will increase but the heat distribution will decrease causing it to be cooler. Later, its outer layers will eventually become shedded outward, away from the core. The remaining is what we call a planetary nebula(this has nothing to do with planets though) and a small celestial body called a white dwarf. This is the core of the sun and is mainly made up of carbon and oxygen. If humans existed to see the white dwarf, it would be dimmer than the moon. All this seems exciting and a bit scary but the good thing is that this will happen about 5 billion years from now. So enjoy the sun the way it is since it will one day perish away from our skies.
